COmpetitons are always a great way to get forums going! They always bring in quiet alot of people and usually alot of them stick around and post if they like it!
Just thought it might be a good idea to get a few more people here! COme up with a unique idea for a competiton thats really fun and it could do wonders!

We've had a few simple ones in the past and we'll no doubt have some more in the future.
Awesome! I think you should come up with something really unique! Soemthing no one else has done that will get people here, I think that would really bring in the people.
Just hard to think what!

Just hard to think what!
That's definitely the tricky part. Let us know if you have an idea ;)

We could have the most creative thing to do with a PermaThong (http://www.permathong.com) contest.
Hey! It's all about creativity. :fuheart:

You okay Christian? You look a tad green there.
Maybe too many Easter eggs?

Lol. Just as long as there's no modeling of the most creating thing to do in a thong. Now just the thought of that scares me to death, well, unless a hot chick is doing the modeling... That's a different story. :melike: :D

I ran one on my forum. It lasts 30 days, and the people to be the last to reply to a thread goes into a draw. the winner of the random draw wins a nice prize, like an ipod. so everyone wants to reply last to a post, the post count and member rate shoots up!
it works, i tried it!

A contest is a great idea, but how do you get the word out? Would it really be a good idea for a baby forum that only has a dozen members? I'd think the same people would keep winning the prizes :pimp:

I don't think contests work with small forums - you really need a good member base to get enough activity. That said, if you know you've got a lot of guests, but not many take the step to register a few (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/showthread.php?t=709) simple (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/showthread.php?t=958) contents can certainly get a number of new recruits. The trick then is to get them keep posting...

I would love to see some contests going on around here. My friends aren't big posters, but if they see a forum with a contest they tend to register and stick around for quite a while.

I also think Competitions are a great way to get your forums active. I recently ran a competition to who ever posted 5 really good posts bout experiences, or remembering Pink Floyd would win a Free Pink Floyd Back Catalog Banner. Was a nice Pink Floyd banner about 3ft by 4ft.
It was insane.. we had like 55 people post their 5 posts in about 2 hours. Was fun going through it all. I ended up giving out 5 of the Banners, and gave 5 other people freebie stuff. We had 45 sign-ups in a day, so it definitely worked. I recommend competitions, and give-aways.
