Well I really wanted to discuss vBSEO so I did a search, and it looks like our very own Tyler (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=104484) wrote a plugin that has some of the functionality. I found two threads here at FU, both about a year old, that discuss vBSEO and Tyler's plugin. But, a year is a long time in the tech world. So, has anyone been using either solution? I'm specifically interested in their benefits to a very new forum.
I have absolutely no SEO experience, but when I launch my forum I want it optimized for SEO. Then I plan to submit it to directories and search engines and hope for the best :)

vbulletin is pretty much seod. You don't need to use any plugins. They will increase your traffic but I don't think vbseo that costs 160$ is any better than a free alternative considering price / quality ratio. Its a good tool, no doubt, but u can try Zoints seo system or any other free alternative.

Thanks sandrodz. What methods have you employed at your forum to increase traffic? Other than using that plugin which grabs discussions from user groups, I remember you talking about that.

If you have an existing forum, I would not use vRewrite. There are also some minor issues that the community never fixed themselves (...go figure, heh), and I'm not about to.
vRewrite will only rewrite the URLs. While that will work great for new forums, not so much for old forums. Honestly, I thought vBSEO was overhyped, overpriced POS. But I've been an avid reader of their forums for quite a bit (I like to read successful businesses' forums, to see how they do it). They are quite a bit of amazing success stories, that do make you hmm and wonder what if.
