I just read an article that Jack Thompson said Counter Strike is the blame for the Massacre. And I'm sure most of you have heard of this incident.

"These are real lives. These are real people that are in the ground now because of this game. I have no doubt about it," said Thompson, a Florida attorney and fervent critic the of video game industry.

The game he's talking about is "Counter-Strike," a massively popular team-based tactical shooting game that puts players in the heavily armed boots of either a counter-terrorist or terrorist.

Funny at what he says games are...He says GAMES are "Mental Masturbation". I take that offensive..

When Jack Thompson gets worked up, he refers to gamers as "knuckleheads." He calls video games "mental masturbation."

When he's talking about himself and his crusade against violent games, he calls himself an "educator." He likes to use the word "pioneer."

So what do you guys think? Is CS or games to be blamed here for his wrong doings? I myself thinks that Jack Thompson is all love and he hates games cause he got raped in Counter Strike.

Personally I dont think games are to blame, it all depends on the stability of the person.

"Mental Masturbation"? I definitely do enjoy playing some of my games, but Mental Masturbation? Excuse me for a minute.. need to run to the toilet as I laugh my guts out...

ok... back... so.. games to be blamed for shootings.. hmm....

Its under my opinion that violent people play violent games. Violent people, listen to violent music. I do not think violent music/games cause people to become violent, but it doesn't help. This all depends on the person who is listening and/or playing what is violent.

I enjoy playing violent games. Just as I enjoyed knocking someones head off playing H.S football, lacross, and hockey up into my mid-20's. But I guess i'm sane enough to not commit a violent act.

Again in my opinion.. games, music, guns, knives etc.. these are just tools. They are tools the person can either use as fuel, or an object to hurt someone. Really.. the true problem is the person... not necessarily the tool the person used.

As a parent I don't let my child watch violent movies, play violent games, and listen to violent music. She can easily grow up later and do these things. But right now "is my time". Its my time to influence her to the best of my ability the differences between right and wrong. The truly sad thing about our situation is; she is a disabled child. But that isn't the sad part.. which is IMHO she acts better than 90% of the children I see at the store, at school, at the park etc... I guess parenting really does work. And obviously failed in the Virginia Tech shooting situation...
