View Full Version : A humble arcade suggestion :P

I know with ipb, it's possible to do this, and from my understanding, it is on v3 arcade too. Perhaps the scores should be limited to one per user per game (ie: the user's top score), so that people don't get bored and just dominate the entire top ten of games like this (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/arcade.php?do=scores&gameid=31)
:dgrin:

I agree.. especially with games which automatically submit your score, it's kinda pointless to have your first try of 4pts added to the overall list.

So you mean that previous attempts of one user get cancelled out when they get a higher score for said game?

Sounds like quite a good idea :)

Then we wouldn't see the nenenene comments when someone tops someone else :bawling: :PYup. And that's about the only reason to keep them all. I love reading that stuff. :D

Ehh it just doesn't seem fair to others to have one person dominate the whole top ten (or twenty, now) of a game, just cuz they're trying to get a higher score ;)

I added a poll.

Yes. One is plenty.

It it possible just to set it to one, on the games that automatically print a score? Or is it all or nothing?

Most likely all or nothing

Yeh. It's a global switch.

Would it be possible to only save the score if the user entered a comment? This would get rid of all the "No comment" entries which don't really add anything. This would probably need a code hack though :iunno:

I asked the developer. :)

I take it the developer is on vacation? I don't think this is too big a hack to do, and for games such as the pool one, it would help a lot...

Well, that still means that all someone has to do to get multiple hiscores is enter a comment, which can be as simple as a or b :P
Personally, I think it's best to limit 'em to one hiscore.

Not sure that the developer would even support something like adding a hiscore entry only if comments were made. Trivial maybe, but not something they'll probably do. Hell, it took 'em months just to get the arcade ready for 3.5.x :(

Any advance on this? I have now seen it in action and it surely must reduce resources to a big degree (especially here where the arcade is very popular) :)

Nothing back from John.

I guess we'll just go with one high score per user. :bawling: (Yes. The comments can be fun . . . . sometimes.)

Probably better this way in the long run, especially as more people join and use the arcade.

In arcade news, Jan, I have reclaimed my lead on Diamond Mine by an entire 1 point. :D

Guess I have to look into that more. It appears to only do the first six games. :S

i honestly think one is plenty on the main page. Maybe a link to a list of members scores for each game they played. But no more then one score per member for the main page.

Thanks

:cowboy: I think I've enabled it, should be at the bottom of the menu when you click on my name. Do we have any idea how it works?
