I have recently purchased cyclez.net and thought it would make a great forum domain so I got another vb license and loaded it up. I'm starting to get this vb coding thing down pretty good but I am stuck on colors.
I have surfed tons of other cycle forums and all have red but those are all Sportbike forums.
I want mine to have all topics for every bike. Harley, Sportbike, Drag, Scooters even. So I want to make each member/guest feel welcome. For example A harley owner would see the red flashy high tech sport look and feel that he wouldnt fit in as I wouldnt (I'm a Harley owner myself) and hit the next site.
I have been sitting here all night thinking of what to do then decided to bring this to the pros. :notworthy I beg :notworthy
Maroon, Yellow & Blue keep popping in my head
It will have a simple header as like daxster.com has but with a few bike shots in the logo. I dont want to go with a dark background either.
What are your thoughts or suggestions?

/me thanks everybody in advance.

. . . What are your thoughts or suggestions? . . .

My thought would be . . . I'm not quite sure what you're asking.

My suggestion would be . . . if you're asking what design you should incorporate, I'd suggest something professional and smooth. But, I'd have several styles that members could choose from and make that clear to visitors. I'd even encourage visitors to switch styles to one that they think would suit them better (as judged by the thumbnails available.)

Maroon, Yellow & Blue keep popping in my headI can't envision that harmony. The yellow throws me off.

I can see maroon, green, and blue though. :)

David I went through this process on the disign on one of my sites. We wanted the cool chopper look but did not want to alienate anyone with the usually chrome and babe theme (don't get me wrong we still ahve babes I just cleaned it up). Since so many bike forums look similiar I would take an alternate approach. Try asking for ideas of some of the design forums. One of the best decisions I made on my bike site was to hire a really good designer.

I wish you luck on this. I will be adding a forum to our site later this year. But with our normal guest it will have to focus on amercian vtwin models.

Thanks guys. I am most likely going to create a couple of skins for members to choose like SWR mentioned. The one you see now on there is more of a temp style I put together myself. I think I will have the maltese cross on both styles as I see mostly all styles of bikers sport & vtwin carry the logo on thier helmet tank or other.
I just got my brand new box set of PhotoShop CS2 in the mail a couple days ago and I am having tons of fun with it. Hopefully in a couple days I will have something whipped up worth looking at.
Thanks again for your input.
