Hey all,

Just hit the 100th member exactly 30 days after opening my forum, www.DeuceAce.com

This is the quickest I have reached the first milestone on any forum I started and hopefully this will also be the most successful, I am going all-in with this one.

I haven't done any paid advertising at all for the site so this is pretty good.

I have spent over $3000 already for various things for the site, some which aren't complete or public yet but I am sure it will pay off in the long run.

Id say I will be reaching the next milestone of 1000 posts pretty soon too :)

I too would be interested to know how you achieved this 100 member mark, without advertising. Do you participate in newsgroups or other forums, of the same theme as your forum?

That's pretty good. :) My most recent forum got 570 members the first month, but that's mainly due to the old site's forums closing, and many of the members joining the new one. No advertising since then and it's at about 700 members.

$3,000 is quite a lot! What in the world did you spend it on?

The only place I have advertised was having it in my sig on a few forums I go to, but there isn't a lot of traffic from those so I think it's word of mouth.

The community there is pretty good already but still very small.

Spent the $3000 on quite a lot of things, got a professional writer and poker player to write a lot of unique articles so I have good, unique content, I prepaid for a lot of those, poker video, vB and custom design.

Most of it was spent on prepaying for more work in the future which is ongoing to ensure I keep getting new content.

My other monthly costs will be a lot lower after the first 3 months or so, I have more planned and I think it will cost a lot more than this in the first few months.
