In my site the statistics report show 2 kind of visitors. Could some good fellow tell me the difference between a "visitor", a "unique visitor" and hits? I think I'm doing better with my site but I may be raising the number myself with all the work on the new pages. Thanks.

A unique visitor is judged by the IP address. If you visit your site 10 times, it will still count as 1 unique visitor. However, it would count as 10 hits. Hits is how much your site was hit by a visitor. Does that help clear it up at all? :)

It sure help a lot Tyler!!! I had no idea how they figure it.

Maybe you could help me a little further. What would be a normal amount of "unique visitors" expected for a site that is 37 days old? In the first 7 days of this month I already got the same amount of "unque visitors" that I had for the whole month back in December. Thanks.

That's all related to the amount of advertising you do. If you're listed on various search engines and appropriate places, you'll get more traffic than if you weren't, obviously.

I do understand. I registered in a whole bunch of directories and some of then come to the site to check it out, means more unique on the record sheet.

Sorry, I didn't present my question the right way. The reason I asked of an expected number is because I got nothing to compare with. I feel good that I got more traffic but I don't know if I'm doing good compare to what is the standard for others. I been getting about 10 unique per day in the last 7 days. Am I suppose to be happy or should I have more than that? Thanks.

That's pretty good IMO. If you do some SEO and put it in your signatures to gain some back links you should be getting some nice figures in a few more months :)
