Apparently I'm getting sick again. First time this "Winter" (since its so cold :(). I have a tendency to get sick numerous times during the winter. Right now, its just a really bad sore throat which leads me to believe its my annually strep throat.
So do you get sick often? If you do, which is your worst season?

Don't be hatin' on my favourite season!
I haven't been sick for the longest time... in fact I can't remember when it was.
Same here mug from the west! (or is that a can with a handle? :p)
I have a good immune system it seems and have never had the flu, and no sign of a cold in years.

I have a pretty good immune system too, I don't get sick very often, but when I do get sick it hits me hard :(

How are you feeling today? Any better?
If you're interested, I can tell you about the garlic cure. If it doesn't keep the cold away, it keeps everyone else away. ;)
Actually, I take odorless garlic capsules when I need to. They leave a garlicky taste in my mouth, but they can push back cold symptoms within hours. The first time I used them for a cold was on a bicycle camping trip in Hawaii, of all places. One of the people in our group of 5 had a cold when we started the trip, and the day after we slept under the stars, 2 more of us had the beginnings of a cold. The day before we were to fly home, I didn't know how I was going to sit in a pressurized airplane cabin with a head cold, so I went to a health food store and asked for help. The garlic capsules were the help I needed. That evening, I went out with my friends with hardly any sign of a cold.
I'll look up the amounts to take if you're interested, but be warned that people with some health conditions or situations should not take doses of garlic. Garlic lowers BP, for example, which is good if you have high BP, but those of us with low BP can feel a little woozy on too much garlic.

Having been a teacher for 15 years, colds were a part of life. You can't escape them when every day you're in classrooms where you hand out and collect books and papers from students with colds. Colds spread through the school fast. I got about one a year, which isn't as bad as it could've been. This winter may be different now that I'm not teaching. :)

Thanks for asking
I just had a nice, hot warm bowl of soup so I'm feeling quite better :D
The garlic does sound a bit weird, but I could give it a go!
I take a garlic capsule every day and have done for many years :)

That's probably a big factor in why you don't get colds. :)
Back to Tyler...anyone taking garlic should first know what garlic can affect. It can lower BP and possibly cholesterol and blood sugar levels, which is good for some people and bad for others. For me, having any of those things lowered more is a bad thing, so I don't take garlic except when I'm fighting a cold.
Garlic interacts with some drugs, and it should be stopped before some surgeries. More about the good and bad of garlic supplementation is on this page (http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/8513/31402/346222.html?d=dmtContent). I remember reading about more risks than what's listed here, though.
When I take garlic, I take the Sisu brand, which contains allicin (http://www.garlic-central.com/allicin.html). With 250 mg capsules, I take 6 at a time 4 times a day when I'm fighting the beginning of a cold, and I reduce this amount soon after I notice a difference. (Not everyone will need to reduce the dose.) Note that garlic also comes in 500 mg capsules, in which case you take only half as many capsules.
These garlic supplements are odorless, but when you take that many capsules at once, you might have the taste of garlic in your mouth for a while. I see that as preferable to having a cold. :) For me, garlic doesn't eliminate a cold completely, but it reduces the symptoms considerably -- and fast -- and it lets me carry on with life.

I'm a school bus driver, so i'm in the same boat. I have to spray my bus every day with Lysol just to kill whatever germs the kids leave behind! But then, one of my 3 kids brings a germ home with them.... i cant win.
I guess i'm just lucky, havent been sick in a long while... at least, nothing major anyway. I've heard a lot about those garlic pills though! If you're prone to colds, one garlic pill a day would probably do the trick!
Hope you're feeling better Tyler!

I am dripping snot over my keyboard as we speak. And I have way to much work to get sick right now. I really hope this doesn't end up with me in bed with a cup of tea and a bit of a fever.

I do not really get sick. Not really a big issue. However when I do get sick it is something big :(
