Will someone come over here and evict them, please?

Thank you.

One time a baby squirrel adopted me. That was an adventure.

Thank you.

Had this once and was told they hated mothballs (naptha). Stuck a few boxes worth in the attic and left for work. Came home a few hours later, and spotted something falling from the eaves...it was a mothball.
They were rolling them one by one to the hole they get in through, and tossing them out. Guess it's true they don't like them...:D

What you need is about a dozen cats. Throw them up in the attic for a few days to get rid of the squirrells. Once they've cleared out...a dog or 2 should clear the cats out.
Let us know how you make out.

I've got a 95lb black lab who loves to chase them... although I'd bet he would make quite the mess in your attic.

If you're serious about getting rid of them, you need to work on sealing any entry points while coaxing them out.

Don't harm them... they're just looking for a warm safe place. :spiderloo

I have a live trap. I just had to go out to the barn (it ain't in the city with me) and get it.

Now that I have it, the eviction process begins. :dlaugh:

SoftWareRevue

The eviction process has been stalled.

Anyone a Three Stooges fan?

Well, then you'd appreciate this.

My grand daughter is spending the weekend and then has a friend spending the night. Two eight year old girls. Bla bla bla all night long.

Anywho, my son placed the trap (Yes. A live trap.) in the attic this morning. Put some chum in it. And set it.

A few minutes later, he comes upstairs and said he thought he heard something clanging around it. Of course, he was followed by them inquisitive girls that had to see the darling squirrel and discuss how they're going to find it a good home.

Sure enough. Trap = squirrel. One down.

Or so we thought.

Once the trap was brought out of the attic and just into the office, it was evident that by this time, the squirrel was on the outside of the trap. This apparently startled the handler that dropped the cage.

Mr Squirrel (as he's now known) decided this was an opportune time to terrorize two eight year old girls who were screaming loudly as they ran around in circles trying to escape the vicious beast.

Needless to say, Mr Squirrel is still loose in the office. We have been unable to locate him.

My ears are still bleeding from the shrills of the girls.

The son is recovering from dropping the cage on the toe and running after Mr. S.

The girls?

I don't think they'll ever look at a squirrel in quite the same way again.

Let me just say this . . . .

My grand daughter is spending the weekend and then has a friend spending the night. Two eight year old girls. Bla bla bla all night long.

And they aren't even teenagers yet. :evilb:

Mr Squirrel (as he's now known) decided this was an opportune time to terrorize two eight year old girls who were screaming loudly as they ran around in circles trying to escape the vicious beast.

You'll have to tell that story to your granddaughter when she's older. :D

Needless to say, Mr Squirrel is still loose in the office.

Don't be so sure of that. He could be anywhere by now. :spin:

We have been unable to locate him.

If there's a time when you're out of the office, I suggest leaving the live cage with bait to see if he goes in again then. But he probably won't if you're in the office. Or maybe he'll reappear somewhere else in the house.

When I was in Grade 7, 2 other girls and I had 2 mice at school as part of a science project. That is, they started out as 2 mice, but they turned out to be male and female, so yes, we had a lot more mice soon. The cages we had for them weren't exactly mouse cages, and the mice went exploring. We heard stories of them appearing in various places throughout the school, and one instance of a teacher standing on her chair screaming at the sight of one. Of course that isn't what you want to hear now. :evilb:

Then there's the baby squirrel that adopted me about 15 years ago. My neighbour had heard a sound outside, so she came and got me and we investigated it together. An abandoned baby squirrel was in the yard, and when we approached, he decided that I was his new mommy. He jumped onto my pant leg and climbed up.

We gave him a home in my neighbour's greenhouse for a few days. We fed him nuts, and he was happy and affectionate. But we couldn't keep him indefinitely, so we took him to a wildlife rescue place. It turned out that he hadn't been digesting those nuts, and he died a day or 2 later. :( But it was a fun adventure with a squirrel while it lasted.

Your feelings about your resident squirrel aren't the same, I'm sure, but I applaud you for dealing with the situation in a humane way. :bclap:

One day, you'll look back and laugh at this.. .Not looking back. I've laughed about this plenty today. :D

The crash of the cage.

The yell from the lad.

The startled girls.

The scampering squirrel.

The terrified girls.

The grandpa trying to keep eyes on Mr S.

The girls running into each other.

The squirrel taunting us with his cat like manuverability. Here I am. No I'm not; I'm over here. Now I just went here. Any idea how I got up here? Hey! This is a lamp, not a tree!

The telephone ringing.

The thoughts of what neighbors think when terrified screams enter their space.

Me jumping on a chair. Hey! Squirrels can run up your pant leg and decide it's lunch time!

The son staring at the cage, trying to see just how Mr. S. made his escape. Was it planned? Had he figured that, once the cage is lifted, a small gap appears where he could gain access to the top?

The horror. Oh the horror of Mr S. taunting us.

I'm pretty sure he was laughing at the time.

I can laugh now.

And, I'll laugh more when he's finally relocated.

Well, provided I locate him to relocate him.

Had I known that the ordeal would have been so comical, I'd of made sure that it was being taped. :noevil:

We really do need some  around here.

If you were a squirrel and found yourself in jail, and then discovered a way out while a giant was carrying you away to (in your mind) a certain death in that jail cell, what would you do? And how would you feel if three other giants started screaming and jumping around at the sight of you? I feel sorry for the squirrel. :goggle:

This is your final warning. I have no doubt you are reading this thread, as you have proven you are no ordinary rodent.

Cease using your hover craft, or however you're stealing the trap food, or I will be left with no other option than to take Napoleon up on his offer to come in the house.

Napoleon is an outdoor cat that has a habit of leaving squirrel tails in my yard.

*note about tails

Napoleon does not simply detach them.

A Google search for "durned squirrels" puts FU in fifth place without the quotation marks, and in third place with them. OK, the latter is third out of three, but still, it's third. We owe those squirrels for helping us with SEO.

As for the type of traffic we'll get from people using that search term, well, I think the squirrels know what they're doing. We'll see. :dfingers:

Guess the closest we have here would be possums.

And speaking of possums in the roof -

When I was a little Bob (a robbie) I would sometimes hear banging noises at night. I would ask my parents what the noises were, and they would say possums in the roof. One day we had relatives over and I was telling them of the possums making the banging noises at night. I remember mum and dad looking embarassed, and the relatives laughing, and it took me a few years to figure out they there weren't really possums making the banging noises in the roof. :rolleyes3

After playing the Battlefiled, they log onto the AdminCP at WHT under Dennis's account and redo the board into SquirrelHostingTalk.

After that they go to the datacentre and kick the gerbils out that were powering the mboard and took over themselves. That's why WHT has been slowing down lately...

You'll never guess what I just came across...a squirrel forum (http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/). That isn't the only one either. Those squirrels get around. :dancin:

In this thread (http://thesquirrelboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129), I discovered a useful piece of information for you, Dennis. Apparently squirrels don't like noise, so if you have a radio turned up in the attic or wherever else those durned squirrels are (I only wrote "durned" for SEO), they might look for quieter digs.

You can also get sonar plugs that create sounds that mice and rats (and maybe squirrels?) can hear but people can't. It's supposed to drive them away too. That's what they say in that thread, but if you want to know more, you know where to ask.

I took some old coffee cans and drilled holes in them. I filled each with a box of moth balls and placed them throughout the attic. (Who was it that mentioned squirrels carrying away the moth balls? :agree: )
