Yup, that's one of the perks of hanging out here. :P
Lois
Erm, if this is a University, where are the frat parties? Are the residences co-ed? And has my tuition check bounced yet?? :stickout:

Welcome to FU. :fuheart:
We, not only have food, but furniture as well. :couch: Sit a spell.

Parties are in the Union, well away from the Faculty :chairhide
Although we're squirrel free, watch out for the pelephant. :pink:

I think it's Mikey's turn again.
Just don't give the Pelephant any more beer, otherwise you got to clean up the entire place.
Welcome to FU, Vito! Glad to see such a familiar face :D

How about radio station WFNU (pronounce it ;) ) in Ohio I think.
You're listenin' to Dr. Laura on WFNU :fuheart:
But I think if you're listening to Dr. Laura, :plugears: is more appropriate.
Edit: Darn, the station doesn't exist. Must have been thinking of WFMU
Hmmmmmmm Vito, that name sounds familiar :erm: I wonder where I know you from? ;)
:welcome: to FU!

Yes, FU Vito! :D
Now for some line dancing -
:banana2::banana2::banana2::banana2:
You're pretty light on your feet there, Bob. Well done. Oh how I pine to join in, but I will have to wait until they saw this stupid cast off my leg next month. :(
Vito
Why do you have a cast on your leg? Too much dancing? :dancin:  :dancin:
I wish, Jan. I broke my ankle just before Xmas. A couple of surgeries later, I have been in a cast since. Still 6 more weeks to go.

You too? Glad it wasnt just me... kept thinking it was some kind of "newbie" joke or something.
Welcome. :)
Sirius
Phew. Thanks for that, Sirius. I don't feel so silly anymore, knowing I wasn't the only one having trouble with it.

Aren't universitys supposed to have an entrance exam?
:D
I guess we should work on changing it up some though. Because that makes four people that have mentioned a problem. I have to believe, at least, that many more had a problem.
Dennis, the problem with it is that the characters are very difficult to decipher. I've seen several different versions of image verification, and frankly, this one has got to be the worst one.
Vito
the characters are very difficult to decipher.I'd agree with that. Took me 3 goes to get through.
Much harder than the WHT image verification and the standard phpbb one.

I feel for you... I've done a number on my right ankle, playing sports through the years and have been told a few times that I need to do the "replacement" surgery. Being a pretty big guy doesnt help either.
Stay off your feet as much as possible and get better!
Sirius
Thanks, Sirius. I broke my ankle on one side and down I went. Then like an idiot, I stood up and put weight on it and broke the other side. Had surgery, had a bunch of screws put in. A week later, at home, I lost my balance and put weight on it. Ended up popping a screw and cracking the fibula. Had to go in for another operation to reset screw, add more screws and a plate.
(Dumb clumsy oaf!!)

There's plenty of time. You can join a few of us in the FU gym, as we get down and dirty with "Achey breaky heart".
Have to watch out for 4 foot high spiders though -
:banana2::spiderloo:banana2::spiderloo:banana2:
... as we get down and dirty with "Achey breaky heart". Well, given that chicken was the cause of my accident, play the Chicken Dance (http://www.funpages.com/chickendance/) instead in the gym and I'll be there!! :D

VitoBut it's just the default image verification here that is the same on all them other vBulletin out there.
I just looked on wht and dbforums and the settings are exactly the same as FU's.
I'll still see if I can find some other way though. Because there is too high a percentage here that have a problem.
It just don't make no sense to me.
But then, it ain't hard to confuddle me with technology. :bonk:

Would it be possible to provide an option for people to have their memberships manually approved if they get stuck at the image verification step?

Interesting, but it would make it rather difficult to tell if it was a bot or a person.

Make 'em respond to an email with the answer to a question? And when they do, I think there's a way to approve members. But I don't know if there's a way to direct them to a second signup path if the first one doesn't work.

We can send the activation email to the address they give us when they use the contact form.
I added a bit to the page that has image verification.
If you are unable to distinguish the six alphanumeric images, please contact us (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/sendmessage.php). (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/)

Maybe it was something to do with GD on this server. But, I set up ImageMagick and switched to that and it's a lot easier to read.
I don't think there'll be any more problems with verfication.
Thanks for bringing it up!
/me looks around for that Hey Vito thread.
Wow, cool. Who'da thunk that switching to ImageMagick would do the trick? Well done.
Vito
/me waits for an influx of new members... :chairhide
