What software, if any, do you use to analyse users who visit your website? Does it do everything you want?

I've used Urchin, but find there is a bit too many different stats for the average web site.

I like awstats (http://awstats.sourceforge.net/).

It gives enough information, but not too much.

About all I want to know is where they came from and what search terms they used if they came from searching the web.

I've always used AWStats, and I love it. Although, I'm not too fond of the newest version, but it gets the job done. I plan on keep using it as well :)

I should be using AWstats but I am still using webalizer, I don't know why..

I used to pay for a stats program, can't remember the name now but it didn't give much more useful information.

Almost everything you would want/need to know is in Webalizer and AWstats.

Personally, right now, I use google analytics. I'm sure they'll start charging eventually and I'll have to move away, but their stats are actually quite good.

At the moment, google analytics is free. I don't know if they'll ever drop the free service, but I can see them expanding into premium accouts with extra features. It certainly is a decent service, I'm sure there would be a market out there if they had premium options. :iunno:

Awstats is my choice, but there has been some talk going on about security issue with that script.... my host disabled it a while ago... I'm confused :)

How did I miss this thread??? :|

I use awstats. I also use Analytics on a few domains but the results are very different compared to awstats.
I think awstats reports more visitors but I don't know why.
The same goes for Adsense too - it reports more unique visitors than Analytics... weird.

The one thing I do like about Analytics is the country map where you can see which city the visitor is from.
Couple of visitors last week from Kalamazoo actually! :)

The country stats on awstats (with plugin geoipfree) are quite inaccurate too. Apparently I live in America - don't know when I moved there.:S

I find the same feature beneficial too!, trying to make a british based community, i always look at the country map and the dots are relevant sizes tot he traffic flow from that country.
