I was thinking about sports forum.

How valueable is it to own domain names such as xxxxForum.com?
For example, SpursF___m.com, YankeesF___m.com, RamsF___m.com?
Would you say those names have certain value to it?
(For argument sake, let's say those domain names are available)

I wouldn't count on the domain name making it popular.

I checked out a few TEAMforum dot coms and some seemed popular and others didn't.

It's what you do with it that will determine its value.

We have an ongoing experiment around here somewhere on the weight of a domain name to SEO.

/me goes a diggin'

This (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/showthread.php?t=144) is what Dennis is referring to, and I would agree that domain name will not make a large difference on how popular the forum is.

Certainly, it would help to be relevent in the domain name, but content is key. :) :)

What about the legal aspect? I'm not certain about it, but wouldn't names like YankeesForum and RedSoxForum pose trademark issues?

It could be Vito. For example, this case with Canon (http://www.pokeefe.com/item/574) which is admittedly not a sports team, but still a trademarked name.
