Hello there.

I'm lauhde from Finland, a computer/hosting/forum hobbyist who was born in the same year Saddam Hussein got power in Iraq (that was 1979, but not that it has anything else to do with me, I swear!).

Ok. This is getting so interesting that I have to stop right at this point or else I'm going to get into troubles.

Let my forums speak for me! (Whatever that actually means)

http://SuicideTalk.com | For folks who are not that much happyhappyjoyjoy

http://Waymeet.Net | For finnish RPG people

and few other minor ones that I'm not gonna tell you about :D

I'll talk about that one any time. I've had plenty of conversations about that topic before. :yak:

We're just getting started here, but feel free to join right in. :)

Hello hello SWR & writespeak!

My forums are doing pretty allright, the "dark" one has been online for a year and is getting new incomers daily, and the RPG forum has been online in different forms since 2001, but it has been abit too passive lately :(

May I ask what forums you guys are running yourself?

Others than this :)

Cheers!

That's encouraging. I took a quick look, and in the intro forum, I saw people joining who were looking for help.

The person who started this forum is SoftWareRevue, who's the head of the moderating team at webhostingtalk.com. It's a large forum, and it has dozens of mods. SWR dragged, I mean invited some of us from there to get involved in this forum too. That's how I got here. :)

Yeah, though managing that kind of board takes a bit weird nature, personally I'm making lots of things to joke, it's my way to cope.

But things should be talked about, I believe in opennes in almost every area in human life, and of couse in corporate-and softwarewise, too!

I hope many of the comers to STC find help in there, peer support is word of the day.

Aha!

Lots of respect to SWR then! I just *LUV* WHT! I've been hanging around there for a some time also, it's great place to look for hosting advices, tips and recommendations.

I hope FU will become similar place regarding the different forum platforms and related matters.

At least the start is very encouraging, so keep up the good work! :)

Openness is good, but it can be difficult online. I'm involved in an online health support group where we're open about our health problems, but there are still some things I won't put online. With deep depression and suicidal thoughts, though, you need openness to survive.

Small world. :) BTW, how did you find this forum? We're happy to have you, of course. :)

Just curious...are you male or female? It doesn't matter, but it helps to have a sense of who you're talking to. Unless you're also female, I think Jan and I are the only females so far.

Yeap :)

For me, maintaining STC is a call which I answered willingly to.

Well, I stumbled upon FU accidentally at WHTIRC, heh.

I was there and did a /List and saw

" #FU - The Forum University || www.forumuniversity.com || Dedicated to promoting the exchange of ideas and ideals to maintain a cohesive on-line community. "

in there, decided to join the channel, visit the URL and *poof*, here I am :)

To your last question, the answer is, quite surprisingly, male. :homer:

Ah, so it isn't a coincidence that you're here and at WHT. :)

Actually, that was my guess from this post (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/showthread.php?t=47) of yours in the Tech Campus forum. Men talk about techie topics differently than women do. ;)

Helo Jan!

Are you anon-e-mouse?!? Cool :)

Thanks for quick and friendly service!

I was so happy to see that smiley in the 'username changed' -message and I thought how good the WHT people are.

It's superb board, my alltime two favorite forums are finnish muroBBS (maybe largest board in Finland, http://murobbs.muropaketti.com, running with Jive (that soft sucks big time)) and WHT.

Lauhde is definitely not be easy to pronounce for foreigners - and isn't finnish like in world's most difficult languages Top 5, anyhow.. ;)

(lauhde means 'condensed water'.. maybe not the most original nick but hey, at least it's better than newbie reversed..)
