check if a vbb forum is illegal

I have read somewhere that we can check if a vBulletin is legal or not, by viewing source of some files... but cant remember now. Is there anyway to check it beside reporting to VBB staff?

As far as im aware you have to report it. IPB i know you can veiw to check.

That's no longer the case. After users were checking sites and making a nuisance of themselves they removed the simple check, and instead return a set of numbers that only have meaning to IPB.

As for VB, the only thing I've seen is on the really obviously nulled ones the javascript files have comments about the rip in the top...rare.
As was said, just report it and let them sort it out. The only sure way.

Even that has gone now, and the ipscheck function returns a no permission error. IPB also requires the url you'll be using the board on, which is quite an improvement to their old piracy system.

I had someone ask me on my mboard that they found an illegal vB and I simple gave them board report link on vB's site and report it there.

I also told him that any action may not happen instantly as some illegal boards may go legal or located in a country that don't respect copyrights. Other then seeing a site disappear, any action done by Jelsoft is confidential and is not shared, even with the person reporting the site.

Please read the rest of the topic, cyberturk. The feature was removed in IPB 2.1 I think.
