cookie timeout... I get loged out often :(

Hello, can anyone help me? I constantly get loged out of the forum... for example I'm writing a huge comment on one of the host topics... and when I'm finished I click submit and bump! your loged out, please log in... and that's it your hard work is gone! Anyone knows how to keep cookies alive forever... or how to get browser remember post comments in the cache, so that when user logs in post is still created not lost?

That's a bad feature of vBulletin IMO...your best bet is to use the 'preview' button every few minutes.

I have that problem on firefox which I have set as hopepage to one forum I admin. I'm about ready to ditch firefox altogether. Not only because of that, but I just don't see where all the rave is justified :S

Do you keep "Remember me" ticked?

You might want to try running WinPatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/winpatrolplus.html) to save the cookies you want to save.

Lurker, it is not a firefox issue...if any other browser does it any other way, that browser is wrong.

I manage to stay logged in at the same forum using IE. In firefox I have to login each time and each time I tick "remember me".

I use Firefox and I stay logged in. It sounds to me like something other than the browser itself is to blame. Maybe the browser settings?

I think it's because of the vb, IPB has a mod for example that saves session messege even if you are logged out, vb doesn't have that feature making that a pain in ass.

Every forum I visit that is vB, works great across the board :D

Just sounds like you are not clicking "Remember Me" or you have a program that deletes cookies after a set amount of when they were created.

nope it never happens on this forum or on WHT, but on my forum studforum.com I have remember me ticked and I still get logged out. :(

Did you try changing the cookie expiry time in the admin section?

It's probably counted in seconds rather than minutes (phpBB is anyway - I don't know about vB)

Set it to 3600 to keep the cookie alive for an hour.

Yep the fox forgot again. Fired it up this morning, had to login. Cookies timed out when I refreshed less than hour later, had to login.

/me fires the fox and gets an :pink:
