I noticed that some members on the board have hard times verifying their emails... simply because they never used boards before, and just are unaware of that... it results on 50% of them to turn away and rest just asks...

I turned off email verification right now... but is that a good idea now?

This is a debatable subject I think. Leaving email validation off with indeed get members joining who wouldn't for some reason validate. However, be on the look out for any instances of spamming, which will happen as your forum grows.

At the end of the day, the choice is up to you. If you are comfortable dealing with spam when it happens, then sure - leave it off for the moment.

(This doesn't mean that spammers never validate...but the majority of them don't.)

Yikes! I'd hate to see a forum that didn't require validation then :goggle:

but due to pieceful nature of my forum, I don't think it's a good place for spammers :dfingers:

I had no email verification for 1 year now. Put it to work last week since I was getting spam bots in the forums. So, although i hate the idea of putting this since it's yet another obstacle for my members I use it now to protect the place better.
