Has anyone ever had to deal with one as an admin? I mean has one of your co-admins or moderators or even prominant members ever made a site to compete with yours?

I've been in a couple or three as a member, with one unfolding today at www.radio-info.com

They are annoying as a member, what about as an admin?

Although indirectly, when I took over my cousin's forum, one of my admins helped a member on a another board put a forum up and many of the topics are simular between my forum and the other one, which is a private one. The admin that helped resigned a few times and rejoined.

...The admin that helped resigned a few times and rejoined.I don't think I'd have an admin on staff that worked within a competing community. Surely he couldn't have both communities' full interests at heart?

... what about as an admin?Although I haven't experienced it, I'm sure it would be beyond annoying.

But then I'd have to ask myself why.

Why would an admin of a thriving community start their own?

Apparently, communication was lacking and we didn't share the same goal. :argue:

Yup, I've had this issue before. What happened was basically there were cliques forming between members....It seemed that any issue would just spark a conflict. One of the offending members was a moderator. I removed her and she then proceeded to (try) to start her own forum. What she didn't realize was the time and effort and money it took to start up. Her site was live for about 3 months and she took her closest friends from my board to hers....After her site vanished, they ALL came back asking to be members again......ACCESS DENIED

I don't have time to deal with people like that. You let them stomp on you once, they will keep doing it...promise.
