You know how it is, you've built your forum, and there's no traction yet. Some posts here and there, but you're not feeling it happen, and can't feel the traction. It's stop/start, with no flow.

Well guess what :cmere: the Dotable forum is juuuuuuuust getting some traction.

There's a point where you just feel it, gain traction, albeit ever so slowly, but it's there. Also there's a link between forum traction and the business traction. The two are very connected, imo.

Know what I mean?

You hear folks saying hosts should not build a forum until they have a large client base, as an empty forum is bad for business. That's true yeah, but IMO the best time to start a forum (if you want to) is right now. Start from nothing and watch it grow. It will happen, if you have all the ingredients right.

So if you're reading this, and struggling with your forum, hang in there. Keep perservering and fight the good fight. Things might or might not work out, but at least you know you gave it your all, and at the end of the day, that's all you can do.

I know exactly what you mean Bob, it seems like I am working 24/7 until it happens :D

Once it happens you can relax a bit more because the community starts to take care of itself more and more over time.

I think a lot of people give up too early because they aren't seeing things happen, but starting a forum up can take a lot of work.

Its worth it though ;)

Hi, i've just signed up and i've been reading your wealth of knowledge for the last few days..

I am trying to set up a forum and just as your saying its taking all my time, but unfortunatey i have all but one member and he part of the project lol :(, but i knew it was going to take alot to get it going, but i feel getting the 1st 5 members is definately the hardest part..

But i will strive on as you guys are saying and i will be following your methods very closely
