8. System Abuse
People who abuse the system will be banned. This includes but is not limited to people who exploit known secutity issues. Users failing to report these issues are subject to review as well. Users who use the system to spam users will be banned.
This is a rule i have on my forum. I have a vague sentence in there that says if they use the system to spam they will be banned. I enforce this to include forum spam, PM spam, Email Feature Spam, and spamming the webmaster email.

I will usually, without fail, ban anyone caught spamming the webmaster/owner email. This is the email address that gets sent in all the auto-messages from my forum, so its mostly not an issue because its not publically posted so its not picked up by spambots. Just people who sign up and add it to their stupid lists.

It hasn't happened that often, but it happens. Anyone else ever had to deal with it, and what do you do?

You might fix the typo in that rule ;)

If it is a member, you can temporarily ban them until you are certain your name has been taken off the list.

... Just people who sign up and add it to their stupid lists...You mean that a someone signs up, notices what the From address is, and adds that to their (the new member's) list that they send spam to? Or do they maliciously add your email address to some ezine sites or something? What are "their stupid lists?"

I'm kinda lost.

Which is pretty normal for me. :cowboy:

I haven't had anyone do it that didn't have less then 30 posts and just posted a lot in the Business Exchange. I usually just keep the ban. The tend is if they are such an ass to see no reason against doing that, then they won't have any respect for the other members as well. Some people's goal seem to just spam as many people as possible so they can get the hits, so they can sell their website for more $$$.

Just their own lists (so far!). Most of them seem to sign up to talk about their own website and must just take every email that goes through their mailbox and keep it in a list. I usually get spammed with Ads of people's own forums or websites. It has only happened a handful of times, and i was just wondering if people even had a policy on this.
