I have a spare vb license just sitting and collecting dust and want to put it to good use.
I already have an adult forum that does well with ~800 members and ~700 active members.
My hobbies are domain trades/sales, motorcycles, computers of course, seo, linux, saltwater fish tanks, ppc programs.
There are tons of motorcycle, fishtank, seo, geek type and domain forums already out there.
Arcade sites seem to be doing well. I caught a good name for the game Jak and Daxter PS game. Im so lost on what to do. :goggle: Is it good to have a forum for a single game only? I dont know anything about the game nor have ever played it as I am not a gamer.
I think that if one wants to start a forum that one should have an interest in what he/she is starting.
Please help with any ideas..
Thanks.

... I think that if one wants to start a forum that one should have an interest in what he/she is starting...You are not alone. :nurse:
...
Please help with any ideas..I don't see Jak and Daxter being able to carry a community. It might. I do get nearsighted at times.
Just because there are motorcycle, fishtank, seo, geek type and domain forums already out there doesn't mean there isn't room for another. :)
Maybe you can combine some of your hobbies.
Saltwater motorcycles?
Just trying to get some chatter going. We'll keep talking and something will click for ya.

Havent seen many of those type forums :booty:
Yeah hopefully something will pop in my head after a few replies.
Thanks Dennis
I don't see Jak and Daxter being able to carry a community.I don't think so either.
I think you should think about it a lot for a few days, then forget about it for a day, do something else, and then a great idea will hit you!
/me looks for a smilie to represent a great idea hitting you
:fixpc: :banghead: :discuss: :talk: :smash: :bonk: :beathead: None of those...
:bump: - like that but without the Bump!
I think that'll give you the drive and enthusiasm as well, rather than just working on something you either don't know/aren't really interested in/aren't convinced will work.
You'll get a great idea eventually!

Like Dennis said, there could always be another forum for one of those topics, if you can make it unique there is no reason why it won't succeed.
If you can find a specific feature or make of motorcycles for example, this might be something noone else has started a forum on. Just try not to make it too narrow a subject (which Jak and Daxter probably is).
Doesn't seem like this post was much help from where I'm sitting  but at the end of the day, it's your hobbies which are important and you know them best.
Let us know how you get on :)

The only idea I keep coming up with is a domain/ppc/seo type forum as that seems to be the only forums I mainly surf. But, to make it unique from the others keeps thrashing me constantly on what I can offer the surfers to join my forum. I can get the traffic there, I just have to sell once they get there.
Still open for suggestions :)

Ok, I came up with an idea. Created the forum www.ppcjerk.com after discovering the AdSharing hack over at vb.org. It will be about PPC (of course) domains, SEO, & registrars. Does that go good together?
I am stuck on one thing. To whip up my own theme or to get this
http://forumthemes.com/forums/?styleid=22 and heavily modify it.
Discovered via FU ;)
What other changes can I make that you may suggest. I am open to all and all criticism.
Is the name bad? I found it catchy myself.
I fell starting out with more subforums then forums shows better when there are less post then when time comes with more posts to give a forum of its own. Do you agree?
If I shouldnt have put a link to my forums please remove as I wasnt sure if I was allowed to or not.

do seo on the forum so that it shows "top-ten" in search engine results. people will sign up and paticipate so that they can learn how to get similar results.
Looks good Dave and the chosen theme is quite nice too. Let's hope it goes well for you.
