Hi Guys,

We're still working on the content side of things, however I would be grateful for comments and feedback on the following:

www.episodetalk.com

Be as scathing as you like!

Cheers,
Steve.

...Be as scathing as you like!.0.Careful what you ask for. :D

I like that you've focussed on a few shows, rather than trying to do them all.

The skin is easy to read.

I'd rather see some more detail on your index about what your goals are. Why should I join? What will I do when I do join? What if the show I like doesn't have its own category?

Empty forums aren't very inviting. I'd suggest starting at least one thread in each of those or disabling them until someone suggests you add them.

Nice start though. Keep at it.

And . . . :fuwelcome

Hi, thanks for your comments! :)

I will look at adding some intro text above the forum - that's a great idea.

Also, I'm in the process of creating episode guides for all the shows, they are currently in hidden forums at the moment.

I'm also trying to entise a few "early bird" users onto the forum to get us off the ground by offer a few extra privs that normal registered users don't have. I've not firmed this up yet, but basically things like extra PM space/etc.

I feel it's one of these subjects that once you get a few interested people posting, it will start to snowball. But as always, very hard to get started. ;)

Anyway, thanks for your response, I'll go and fiddle some more. :)

Skin wise, the only thing I'll mention is the big blue box at the top. Maybe it's just me, but that shade of blue doesn't seem to fit into the rest of the skin, perhaps a red would look more appropriate?

Apart from that, looks like you're on a roll, keep those posts going :)

I'll have a play with some colours for the top - thanks!

EDIT: :bananad: <-- There's some colour!

Thinking about it - the other option might be to use the blue elsewhere, then it's not an odd colour, it's just another main colour... I just quite like the sharp contrast from the black to the "shiney" blue.

For such a time oriented forum, make sure you have spoiler tags ;)

Kinda a shame your not using ForumOne (Not that you would want to currently - It's ATM a bit feature poor, but i'm working on it! ;)) as it seems to be a perfect match for this type of forum - It would allow you to define message groups for each series, and then as the forum picks up move each series into it's own subforum. But as I said, I need to work on the feature list!

Yeah - I was trying to work out what the best way of doing that was!

There's a few spoiler mods on VBulletin.org

Got one working very nicely, in my opinion anyway!

I've not worked out how to quote bbcode when bbcode is turned on yet mind you. ;)

That's a nice functionality for a site like that. :)

I'm really pleased with how that turned out, very neat and tidy. :)

Indeed, very good looking spoiler system.

I noticed someone on your forum commented about putting shows in TV station categories. Theres one problem with that: Those of us from other locations have them on different stations. Being a fellow UK citizen, I am sure you tune into Sky One instead of Fox ;)

Indeed! That was my main objection. Television "Networks" in the US play a much larger role in people's viewing habbits than channels/stations do here in the UK - and I guess most US people don't realise that.

The design is alright. The status icons could use some work though.

You could organize all of your show discussions, and make each forum a subforum to one primary foum. You might want to consider sorting them into categories; mystery, comedy, drama, reality, action, international.

Add more show-discussion forums. You aren't covering all of tv.

For the time being we are deliberately keeping the number of forums to a minimum - too many forums too early and you end up with a very dead looking site.

Related to this, when we have a few more forums on the go, we may well end up splitting them into sections, but for now there aren't really enough for that to work - most sections would only have 1 or 2 forums under it.

Cheers!
Steve.

Yeah. I'm snowed under with work at the moment and the other guy that's involved was doing his exams - things will kick off again from this weekend.

Thanks for the feedback!
