A squirrel is a rodent. Rodents make up the largest order of mammals. Not to be confused with largest in numbers, there are simply more varieties.

Squirrels are one of few rodents that are considered sociably acceptable for eating in many circles.

Happy eating. :):food::)

Rabbits aren't really rodents...they're 'lagomorphs'.
lag·o·morph (lăg'ə-môrf') pronunciation
n.

Any of various plant-eating mammals having fully furred feet and two pairs of upper incisors and belonging to the order Lagomorpha, which includes the rabbits, hares, and pikas.
