View Full Version : What contest?

We'd like to run a contest. Problem is, narrowing it down to a specific task.

I don't really think anything involving post count or something would be appropriate for FU. I'm thinking something more along the lines of some specific content.

Maybe a Moderator's Handbook or something similar. Perhaps some other useful forum admin guide.

Any suggestions?

Thanks! :fu: <<<< /me gets to work on an FU! emoticon.

I like a moderators or admin guide idea.

Interesting idea, although I do think that a proper handbook is a lot of work, and I don't know if many people would be interested in doing something quite so big.

Perhaps if you narrow it down ever further, say (for example) a How-to on a feature of software which the members could pick.

Only thing to watch out for is making it too geared to one particular software, as not everyone will have the same one.

Looking forward to see what you come up with :)

Yeah. A "moderator's handbook" may be a little much.

However, if I can get a great prize package available . . . .

You might be able to generate some interest if you give a decent prize. I'm just not sure if it would generate more posts per se, becasuse everyone wants to win i'd assume. Would the winning entry be something you'd give away on your site?

Here is a good question for your users! how many of them ever looked for a mod/admin/anything guide for their forum...and how long it took them before they started looking.

I don't think i started looking until like 2 years after i was already an admin, and that was only because one of the admins did want to start a mod guide. :D Thats actually how i found theadminzone.

I've looked, but I've never found one which has covered everything I'd need. I think a proper one really needs to be forum specific, although there are a few reasonably decent ones out there.

Good point, pretty much everyone runs their forum a little differently. My forum tried doing one once, but it was a lot of 'how to use VB to do your mod duties' sort of stuff in it. Not something all-purpose.

I would contribute with unique content only incase of something that helps my business. A banner advert or something similar would attract me to contribute with good content and guidelines for others.

Probablly something similar would click in your mind to attract intelligent people to contribute for growth of the forum.

I think... its something about 'i'm sure you would have thought of something similar to attract people to help your forum'.
