Jury awards $11.3M over defamatory Internet posts (http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2006-10-10-internet-defamation-case_x.htm).

Legal analysts say the Sept. 19 award by a jury in Broward County, Fla. — first reported Friday by the Daily Business Review — represents the largest such judgment over postings on an Internet blog or message board.
Is it just me, or is this a little scarey to forums? :chairhide

Let's not forget about our blogs. :S

Courts are asked to crack down on bloggers, websites (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-10-02-bloggers-courts_x.htm).

The legal battles over blogging and message board postings are unfolding on several fronts:

:(

With almost every market being saturated online, some of the biggest poker networks banning all US players and this, maybe owning sites online is starting to lose the appeal it used to have :(

Well since I visit clients on a daily basis in Broward County (same place where the jury awarded that), you post about me... I'll sue you... we'll split it! or the other way around if you prefer it. Does anyone know if there's such a thing as "lawsuit insurance" that we can aquire prior to posting?

<idea> I am going to start a Forum post continuance insurance (kind of like Softlayers business insurance). Post away... for $5 a month you are safe! </end idea>
