Ok, how about this - instead of a forum with textual threads, as the conversation flow, how about video messages? So instead of typing in your response to a post, you would record a video response, and the conversation layout would be in video thread format, instead of text thread format?

What do ya reckon about that?

Humm, it certainly would be different but I don't know if many people would enjoy being video'd to the world.

Other major problem I see with it is a lack of spider recognition, so most search engines would never be able to find your content.

It's an interesting concept, I just don't know if the technology is quite there yet.

Or a regular forum with an "Attach video message" option to a post. Hmmmmmm.

Come on Dennis :P you can rig something like that up to FU.

Jan, we could teach them all how to talk Australian. :D

I purchased the blogorvlog domain because I was going to use it for discussion of those venues --- blogs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog) and vlogs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vlog).

As our internet connections become faster for more people, I think vlogs may explode in popularity one day.

I kinda like your idea. Just not sure I'd like an entire forum built around it. Maybe a sub-forum that included that option?

/me works on implementing something here. :fu:

Kind of like Youtube, but in an organised video thread/topic discussion kind of way. So if I wanted to start a thread, I'd open with my vidmessage, and others could reply accordingly with their vidreplies. It would be layed out much the same as a text based forum.

I think vidforums could be the next evolution for the forum concept, and for platforms like youtube. So merging youtube with a forum based platform. But all that bandwidth and storage needed would be a killer.

Just a thought.

...

Just a thought. :think:But some of us resemble more of the beast of man-beasts. :tazd:

We'd prolly rather be seen as :bag2:

I suppose we'd just use the audio only option then. :pimp:

Come on Dennis, no need to be shy. Get that rugged handsomeness out there. :P

I wonder how a conversation would flow, if the replies were all vids and not in text format. If you look at youtube, they kind of do this now. Someone posts a video and folks respond to it, with their vid clips.

Textual based format is more accurate to repond to, compared to a video format, but you lose the human flavor with just text, when compared to a vid.

Could be an interesting experiment. You'd just need a big server and have it hooked up to some dirt cheap cogent bandwidth, or an unlimited data transfer host. :P

Host your videos on YouTube or something similar, and link from there. But again, would we see each video post? Some would be a waste of time...

Video news are good, but the opinions of some people at forums aren't time worthy...

In YouTube we already see some video replies :)
