Our last contest (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/showthread.php?t=709) was lots of fun.:evilb: I'd like to get another one going soon.
Which would you prefer? A random draw like last time? Or something like, "Guess when the 500th member registers?"

random draw
Oh come on! We can be lots more creative than that, can't we?
How about a contest to find amusing combinations of otherwise unrelated objects, something like: Have you ever considered what you can do with a javlin, an old inner tube, and a dozen frisbees ? It is lots more fun to play this game if you can wathc people's expressions, but much more challenging to play by posting the combinations and asking for comments.
we could try to guess which web site will be downed by the current set of spam-storms. We can try to guess the apparent source of the next storm. There are lots of variations on this theme.
We could try to find the most inane or offensive post, with prizes for both the person that gives us a link and also to the moderator that squelched the offending post or thread.
Come on, the possibilities are positively endless!

-PatP Not sure we've got quite a bit enough member base to have enough input into something like that, although the ideas are interesting :D
I would go with 500th registration and/or 8000th posts (which should be around soon too).

Hrmm good question. Hard to have a contest that can invovle everyone without it being a bit cheesy. You need something that gets people invovled. Something they care about hrmm....

What about creating something, instead of guessing? Suggestions?

What about creating something, instead of guessing? Suggestions?I've thought of running something like, "Create a Moderator's Handbook" (that we can freely distribute) contest and having some large prizes for first place. But it seems that most contests along these lines would require a lot of work for the particpants who may end up with nothing.
Did you have something in mind?

I agree with you. If it's something that takes much time, people won't do anything. Let me think a little bit...
how about, a challenge like... who can start a new forum community and get 100members or 1000 posts or 500 threads the fastest..

Perhaps instead of everybody working on a big project, do a draw where the entrants submit a forum/moderating related tip or question and answer. That way it's easy enough for people to bother doing, and a little more useful than a random draw.
That's my half-assed attempt at an idea.

Westcan, I was thinking about something similar. Then, Dennis may compile all the replies and make a useful pdf file.
