Its been almost a year, 200 members, 8K posts.

The members keep complaining "We need more members"

What should I do? Theres a core group of 20 that post through out the week, prob 7 a day post.

What's you're forum about? Perhaps you could do some link exchange or even advertising.

You could ask for a review (http://www.forumuniversity.com/campus/forumdisplay.php?f=26) for tips to spot potential problems :)

Welcome to FU :fu: and Merry Christmas :)

Problem might be we always have downtime.

If your goal is just to have a large forum at any cost then you'll never achieve it.

A better goal is to have a true since of community where like minds can share like ideas. You should be thinking postive ways to generate good vibes about your forum. contests competitions goals that members can involve themselves with.

One of the boards I'm involved with has a photography forum.
Not only do the regulars post images they have shot but we also have "Themed Photography" competitions. The board has nothing to do with photography. But we've gained members who just want to look at what everyone is doing and get some good vibes back for pictures they have taken. I like many people simply troll the threads and enjoy the pics. This is an example of win win.
Members get to show something they've done members get to participate. Members get to see what other members are doing.
And we support the thread in our Newsletter.

If you're having this much trouble, maybe you need to switch providers? If you're struggling with managing the server, you can hire people who'll take care of it for you.

Actucally I run some of the fastest servers I've ever been on for the ammount of people on my server, load usually stays at lower then .30

poblem is I ran outta funds, otherwise I've been up for 2 months stable, previously my servers got hacked, just shut em down, friend hosted me on a quad core rig, he couldnt pay the bill and didnt backup my site, thats when I got set back REALLY far, was like september and the last backup was jul since my comp broke right before his server took a dive.

About the hosting - I'm not advertising in any way, but have you tried Dream Host? I'm on it since Nov '06 and pleased with the service.
