Politics forum Suggestions/Comments needed

Hi,

I need some comments/suggestions on what's good and how to improve my politics forum. We are a small community that only started back in June 2006 and we have 25 members in total. Discussions are very good on the whole.

So what can be improved on?

- Style.. Good or not?
- Do I need a better design?
- Are there too many or not enough forums?
- Not enough discussions?
- Is moderation too heavy handed for a politics forum?

I'm assuming you won't be staying with Santa all year round, so I can't really comment on the look. I did struggle to get from the portal to the actual forums, perhaps a link beside Search, Member List, etc would help?

You might be able to get away with the number of forums you have, but I think you could merge a few. Particularly the ones in the Rules category. It's only one post, can't it be a sticky (I'm hoping this is possible in MyBB) in the announcements forum, or even a page which is linked to at the top?

Can never have enough discussions, so if you think you need more, get to it ;)

Moderation depends on how you want to handle it. With this sort of forum anything could happen. I think your rules cover most of it. Time will tell :)

Well, The Christmas theme can be changed to the real theme :ftag: See the file attached. You need to be registered to change that though although the Christmas theme will change soon.

It can be made a sticky in the announcements forum. This is possible in MyBB thanks for the suggestion that sounds like a better idea!

I will get stuck in on posting more topics to get interesting discussions started.

I'm hoping this forum doesn't have those extremists heading into our community.

We have banned religion to try and eliminate offensive, arguments and such. I'm hoping there are no loopholes in our rules so that when we grow things will be okay.

You will get extremists, so I suggest you update your rules to specifically point out your toleration level. Start a forum as you want it to be for you. Keep it clean, or keep it dirty with flame wars etc ;)

We aim to keep it clean. I think as the community gets bigger we will need changes. We will see how things progress.
