Hi. What is the best way to advertise and get our Forum members count up. We have are thinking of doing an advertisement.
A bit like this one (this is for our web hosting company)
http://www.cymraegwaleshosting.co.uk/press/FINISHEDHD.mov
(this still isn't finished)
Because we own our own TV Station, it doesn't cost to put anything on Air.
Can you please have a look at my forum, and see what the best way to advertise it.

Thanks,
Nathaniel

Personally, I feel that if there is any way you can advertise (that wouldn't be considered spam) then do it. For a forum about media, TV would be a good idea.

TV would be a good idea.
Unless you have a REALLY GOOD THEME then TV would be too expensive. It would have be something of wide popularity and localized for TV to work.

Well in August of this year we are launching a business called Dmediashop. This will allow, Photographers, 3D Modellers, Videographers, DJs, Music producers, Podcasters, Authors, Software and game designers etc. To sell our work.
Our Forums is going to be like a jump start. We want to get loads of members, so when August comes, it will be easy to launch. (see my thinking). Im not suppose to announce this, but we have Sony and Apple, who are parteners. In this business.
Thanks,
Nathaniel

Yeah, for most people, but...
Because we own our own TV Station, it doesn't cost to put anything on Air.
So why not use it if you've got it? Might not get much attention, but it's better than missing out on possible guests/members.

He wants you to run an ad about his website as well. ;) ;)
If its not going to cost you much then TV works. Most of the time TV is out of the question because for the same price you can get LOTS more online. Even production is a lot cheaper for some 30 sec flash ad then some 30 sec tv ad.
You best bet though is to go to targeted websites and get your banners up. That alone helps spread your brand across a very targeted audience.
Don't discount word of mouth though. Blog posts, myspace page, fan sites whatever. they all can generate some hype
